Forbes, Congrats on a Thumbs Down!
Published May 7th, 2006 in Ridiculing Stupidity, Web PagesI happen to be browsing the Internet with a curiosity about which cars suck (which is anything that is not my car, since the rest are just in the way) and I came across a link to Forbes. Their article was rather lame, or at least the small portion I skimmed before going to the slideshow that was also pathetic. The majority of vehicles rated as “worst” were rated that way because of their expected retail value. Yeah, it’s not good if your car is not worth a whole lot in a few years, but how does that make it worse than a vehicle that is completely unreliable, a gas guzzler, or unsafe? At least I was pleased to see the Ford Ranger on the list. Ford never lets us down when it comes to producing junk.
Regardless, this is not about bashing Ford (too easy, even when half-asleep… but it does sound fun so maybe in the future…), this is about telling everyone how much Forbes SUCKS! Why? Because apparently through all their research of telling other people what is good, they never found out that webpages are about content. Notice that at the top of their article, the text is less than three inches across! And yes, I measured. For reference, a 17″ monitor is a bit over 13″ wide (17″ diagonally), meaning they are using less than a quarter of the width of my monitor to show me what I actually went to their site for. Somehow I think that if their magazine had text that was only two inches wide on each page, it would not even be so fortunate as to find itself used as bathroom reading material.
Even when I scrolled down to where some of the crap was out of the way, their content was still using about 4.5″. That’s a huge improvement… considering their advertisement at the top is 7.5″ across and some of their ads on the side are 3.5″. At least their site has a cool bug where if you hover over one of their menu links at the top (such as opinions), if there is an ad directly under it, it disappears?
Forbes, your site earns an A… for ABSOLUTELY LAME.
