Unique Art

Most of my art is created using fairly “normal” means. I paint, write, draw, etc. I consider myself a very amateur artist, but I don’t paint for fame or glory. I like the feel of it, the accomplishment, and the citrus smell of my toxic paint thinner. Though I enjoy paintings by professionals, but I tend to enjoy ones made by hobbyists more. Whether by professional or hobbyist, I love art made using a unique medium.

Sometimes I wonder what I should do with the college books I buy but cannot sell back due to a new edition. Finally, there is a solution. You can make art out of any book! People literally cut the books in all kinds of ways to make wild—and surprisingly good—art. I recommend trying it on science books that have a chapter on creation and nothing on evolution.

Hopefully someday we will get away from using barcodes for so many things. I hate having to pick a line at the store and finding out that I picked the one with the checker who doesn’t understand how to use the barcode scanner. Scott Blake uses barcodes for art.

I’ve also never understood art using extremely fragile means. Things like ice sculptures and sand “castles” have always seemed amazing to me because not only are some of the pieces incredible but they’re specifically made with a medium that won’t last. Of course, those are more traditional than dust art.
