Happy Fourth of July to everyone (even if you aren’t American, I hope you don’t mind having a good day). I pushed my cheap digital camera to the limits tonight to capture a few of the fireworks going off way out in the distance. The apartment complex I live in is on a bit of a hill, so the view was pretty much a panorama of color. The largest display was just at the edge of one of the buildings, so I had a tough time keeping the roof out of the shot while capturing the full explosion of light. This makes me want a new digital camera…

By the way, the images link to full size versions (1600×1200), which are PNG’s (lossless), so they might make good desktop backgrounds (if you’re one of those people who isn’t using a widescreen yet… or if you don’t mind taking the few seconds to crop them). Keep in mind, that does mean the files are fairly large (from about 800K to 2MB). When I finish my website redesign, I’ll probably add at least one of these to the photography section with several different sizes available.
