Watching Orca (Killer) Whales

Close Orca WhaleIf you’ve never been out whale watching, you’re missing out. I expected to have a fairly good time, thinking that the whales would mostly be a few hundred yards away. I thought that I’d see some fins, maybe a little porpoising, but I had low expectations… and they were blown away! There were dozens of groups of whales. At times, they nearly surrounded the boat. Many of them came close and some even went under the boat.

A female naturalist explained the many sites on the way to the whale watching site. Once we arrived, there were whales almost constantly in view for 2-3 hours (tough to keep track of time when you are snapping photos continuously).
