Random Stats

I made a few changes to the blog, the most notable of which is the ability to preview comments and use AJAX to submit them. Hopefully I didn’t break anything… In the process of making these changes I also took the time to look at the stats for the blog to see if anything was worthy of attention. The most noticeable thing was a bump in traffic starting on December 3rd from StumbleUpon. During the course of a few days, that site sent me a bit over 3,500 extra visitors. Here are some additional random (all-time) stats about this blog:

  • 2 visitors have used the Playstation Portable to access this blog
  • 52% used Firefox, 42% used Internet Explorer, 3% used Safari, and 1% used Opera
  • Unfortunately, Windows has represented 78% of the visitors to this blog over the course of its life; 13% used Linux and 8% used Macs
  • 3.5% have suffered through visiting this site on dialup
  • 90% of visitors never returned, but .5% are stalkers who have visited over 100 times
  • 70% of people visited for only 10 seconds (or less)… I like to think these are speed-readers who got what they needed, though I’m not great at self-deception
  • 1/3 of visitors are from outside the United States of America
  • 5% of visitors are from Washington State (my home)
  • “free online simulation games” was the most popular search term that landed visitors on my blog with 8.7% of all searches
  • A few visitors actually used complete sentences in their searches, e.g., “do you have what it takes to be a teacher”
  • Some used “what does it takes to become a teacher” and hopefully discovered that reasonable grammar/spelling is a requirement
  • A few sickos searched for “microwaved baby”
  • A few people even searched for other sites such as “www.pidware.com” and made it here
