It’s unfortunate that law enforcement of all kinds generally has a bad image. The good news is that people who drive slowly in the left lane(s) of the highway are going to start getting tickets (see the KOMO news article) and that might improve that image.
I think it’s about time that people start to recognize the purpose of tickets: keeping the roads safe. People who drive in the left lane at 60MPH when they could freely do that speed in the right lane need to wake up! That’s a cause for congestion and road rage and has led to too many accidents. Generally, you should drive in the farthest right lane possible unless you have specific reason to do otherwise (letting someone merge, dodging debris, etc.).
The roadways have to remain safe from all kinds of hazards!
I don’t know if troopers will ever be liked (by me, at least), but I am happy to see that this change could be going into effect soon.
