I saw this on the CNN homepage early last week and took a screenshot. Life has been too busy for me to keep up with everything, but I finally got around to posting it. How often have I said that “chosenness” is the most destructive concept in the history of the world. And it leads to segregation and the separating out of different groups who no longer pay attention to the basic humanness of the “others.”
Of course it is obvious with race and sex and other categories but it seems to be the curse of our times and is spreading to all sorts of minor categories.
The creation (or maybe recognition) of so many groups increases the likelihood that two people who are emotionally attracted to each other will be dashed against the walls of their separate categories in other aspects of their lives.
