Sketch Book 4: Smallville Rescue

Drawing of a male rescuing a female, both in swimsuits

Here’s the fourth entry in my sketch book, and it is the first that is not a portrait. I wanted to take a break from the portraits and try something different, so I drew this scene based on an episode of Smallville, a TV show about Superman as a young adult.

I did the majority of this one with a 2B pencil, darkening in the few near-black spots with a 6B at the end. I think this turned out reasonably well, but I feel like I went back to the “drawing what I think I see” mentality, which I’ve been working hard to get away from.

Is that Aquaman and Lois? Not that I watch Smallville (every week) or anything…

Haha, indeed it is them. I got hooked on Smallville while I was in the Middle East and one of my buddies was getting them sent to him on tape. The show has improved a lot over the years.
