Sketch Book 6: Serpent Man

A pencil portrait of a serpent man

For the sixth entry in my sketch book, I decided that I should try another portrait, but I didn’t want to experience the frustration that I had with the previous portrait. I ended up going with my imagination on this one and creating a “serpent man.” Don’t worry; he’s friendly.

I did this one while visiting family near Seattle. I was a little bit restless that night (19Oct08), so I took out the sketch book and started working away. I used my favorite, cheap mechanical pencil for most of it, and then I went back with a 2B and added some darker shading. I spent my typical forty-five minutes on this one. The nose looks a bit funny, but I had fun, so too bad for Serpent Man.
