I’ve always liked drawing fabrics that have folds in them (such as robes), and now I am enjoying combining that with brightness. Playing around with lighting has improved my drawings quite a bit, even if my technique for details hasn’t improved as much as I’d like. Anyway, I’m quite pleased with how this one turned out.
I based this on a photograph in the portrait book I previously mentioned. Most of it is in 2B pencil, but I also used 2H, HB, 4B, and 9B. For some of the darker bits of grass, I used charcoal. I still need to practice on detail, particularly of the human elements (face, hands, etc.), but I have made progress with depicting clothes. I do still have another 84 sheets to improve with….
