Immediately after doing my previous rough sketch, I wanted to keep drawing, but I wanted to put more effort into it. I didn’t use any reference image for this. I just started drawing really vague, light shapes with a 2B and went from there. I think it looks a bit like the lab in Super Metroid, but that was not intentional.

I still need to work on creating better contrast. Part of the problem is from smearing the drawing when moving my hand around. When I remember, I put a cloth under my hand to lessen the effect, but I usually forget. This turned out pretty well considering the lack of references or significant planning. I just created an image in my head and drew it, making minor adjustments along the way. The leaking hose looks pretty cool. I was worried that it would completely ruin the whole drawing, but it worked out okay. I also did some minor things to make the lab less symmetrical.

With better contrast and some more interesting details, this would be a really sweet drawing.
